Terry Allen Band08/31/2010
I started playing guitar when I was about 8 years old. My influences span a fairly wide spectrum...from Nancy Wilson to Dolly Parton.
I had my first band at 16, and all girl band ....a Runaways wanna be group...which soon became a Blackheart's wanna be group..since girls who could play music were extremely hard to find in the little East Texas town I grew up in.
Soon we moved our act to the underground Punk scene of Dallas. We had a popular 3 piece band call Black Satin....Our front man /Bassist is still haunting the concert halls in that area in his self named band The Scape Grason Band.
As I got older , I stared being influenced by more of the Southern Rock style..Rossington Collins Band, Marshall Tucker , 38 Special.. and that influence has stuck with me throughout my years in the music business.
In the 90's I turned to song writing , and worked for a couple of Nashville Labels.. I had always written most of the songs for my previous bands..I figured I might as well get paid!
During my stint as a Nashville songwriter, I received 2 TCMA awards, a Texas River Music Award, and scored a number 1 song in the Netherlands with Shannah's version of my song "Fire Down In Texas".
8 years ago I decided to get back into the performance side of the music industry and co -founded my current band The Terry Allen Band with it's name sake Terry Allen. Terry and I had worked together in various studio sessions and crossed each others paths for several years...and it just seemed like it was meant to be the way it all fell together.
Thus far The Terry Allen Band has been my biggest success ...We play a high energy style of Southern Rock Infused Country music that appeals to a wide range of music lovers. Selling almost 30,000 copies of our first independently produced and distributed CD, playing over 200 shows a year, scoring 3 hit records on the The Texas Music Charts, all of which I was fortunate enough to write, and a label deal in the works...A brand new CD which should be out in both retail and digital locations by Jan 2011...and an always growing fan base across the USA and the world...
2011 brought a time of change for me..and I am proud to say for the best!I wanted to work with a group that had a woman upfront...and found even better..Paul Lopez and 151 Turnaround featuring Tammy Nichole is like a double shot of talent.
Quickly jumping in to the band's busy tour schedule...I also started writing, recording and producing a solo project for Tammy Nichole who tours as part of the band.Tammy's first song"Bus To Baton Rouge" hit # 4 on the RMR true Country Chart in June. That was followed up by a second success..Paul Lopez and 151 Turnaround's first single release "Your Old Cold Shoulder" spent three weeks of June at # 1 on the RMR True Country chart.
You can find music by Tammy Nichole online at iTunes or Amazon.com, including a song I wrote for her called "Run" this year.
To hear the band live and check out some of our studio stuff visit our Reverbnation website...this site also includes an accurate and up to date show schedule.
If you are a young girl and you have music in your soul, and guitar is your passion...Don't give up...work as hard as you can , and you can live your dreams...I recommend you play a Daisy Rock...It fits!
